Mark Huxley – Insurance Entrepreneur & Market Innovator

ImageMark Huxley stands as one of the London insurance market's most distinguished figures, with an exceptional career spanning almost 50 years across the Lloyd's, London, and wider insurance sectors. His journey exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit at the heart of Lloyd's historical success and demonstrates how that same pioneering approach continues to drive innovation today.

Mark began his career as a frontline Lloyd's claims specialist, demonstrating remarkable leadership abilities that saw him rapidly ascend to managing Syndicate claims in his early 20s. This formative period coincided with the market's nadir in the late 80s and early 90s, providing him with invaluable experience during one of the most challenging chapters in Lloyd's history. Playing an instrumental role in the market's recovery, Mark was a founder of the (then) NMA Claims Committee, actively supporting the pivotal Reconstruction and Renewal initiative that helped stabilise the market.

In recognition of his entrepreneurial accomplishments, Mark was admitted to the Freedom of the Guild of Entrepreneurs in 2017. His dedication to raising standards of innovation-led business ownership has seen him mentor countless startups and their founders. With particular focus on supporting individuals from challenging circumstances who seek to leverage their skills for advancement, Mark's commitment to entrepreneurial development has been unwavering.

His leadership capabilities were further acknowledged when he served as Master of the Guild of Entrepreneurs in 2023/24. During this tenure, he oversaw their successful progression to become the Worshipful Company of Entrepreneurs in February 2025, a significant achievement as the City's 112th Livery Company.
