The London Phoenix Orchestra's autumn concert takes place at St John's Smith Square and opens its centenary season.

London Phoenix Orchestra's centenary season begins with a celebration of the old and the new. Century Overture by Stuart Hancock (once a stalwart of the viola section) has been specially commissioned for the occasion, and is followed by the cello concerto by the orchestra's one-time conductor, Philip White. The second half pairs two works from the orchestra's year of foundation: Honegger's dramatic representation of a steam locomotive, and Respighi's colourful portrait of a great city.

The WCI has become the first Livery Partner of the Insurance Orchestral Society that supports the orchestra.
