Court confirms Master’s term of office will be extended

The Master, David Sales, will serve for another year as the Court extended his term of office in acknowledgement of the severe disruption to Livery life caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In his summer message to members, the Master said this was in line with many other Livery companies and the Lord Mayor and Sheriffs.

“I am very grateful to be invited by the Court to continue as Master for another year. I am very thankful to them and extremely honoured to be given this opportunity to continue to serve you as Master.”

Nick Dunlop will similarly serve an additional year as Senior Warden. However, Rosemary Beaver has decided not to extend her term as Junior Warden.

“It is with a tinge of sadness that I have to tell you that for personal and family reasons Rosemary Beaver has decided to step down from the position of Junior Warden”, said the Master.

He praised her passion, commitment and support for the Company, saying she “served with distinction” as Master during the very challenging early months of the pandemic. She will continue as Immediate Past Master.

Claire Burrell, who has led the Livery Committee for the last few years, has been elected as Junior Warden to serve from Common Hall in October. She will be succeeded as chair of the Livery Committee by Sara Fardon.

The Master also welcomed the return to in-person events, which started with the recent Master’s Summer BBQ.

“We are now starting to plan more in-person events with a degree of confidence that they will go ahead.”

This represents another important step back towards normality.

“Livery is about many things but most of all it is about Fellowship”.
